Americas Associate Recruiting Manager - Global Law Firm - NYC

As a core member of the Global People Team you are tasked with helping the firm translate our business strategy into imperatives that deliver on our 2020 vision of profitable growth, engaged people and outstanding client relationships.

You will lead the Americas Recruiting function and the implementation of a strategic framework for workforce planning and candidate attraction, sourcing, assessment, selection and pre boarding. You bear overall accountability for Associate recruiting, both graduate and lateral, across the US.

You will ensure the Firm's associate recruiting capabilities are globally consistent, locally relevant and best in class, bolstered by enthusiastic partner and associate engagement in recruiting activity

Duties and Accountabilities: 

  • Integrate the Americas recruiting team into a cohesive global center of excellence leveraging knowledge, skills and best practice and recruiting for One Firm across offices in the region.
  • Ensure delivery on the global associate recruiting vision, strategy and employer value proposition.
  • Implement global solutions to increase operational effectiveness and efficiency throughout the recruiting lifecycle: attracting, sourcing, assessing, closing and pre boarding the right talent for our Firm.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to develop a comprehensive branded digital, on-campus, and in-office firm experience for associate candidates.
  • Make recommendations for and deliver on lateral and summer associate hiring objectives as jointly set by the Global Associate Recruiting Committee, Americas Section Heads, and Office Executive Partners.
  • Enhance the quality of service, programs and processes to optimize the function's value to the business.
  • Align and implement regional best practices across recruiting processes, policies, programs, training, tools and systems.
  • Maintain current knowledge of recruiting trends and issues both in the legal industry and the broader corporate community, and implement innovative and fresh ideas in the recruiting processes and programs.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to attract both graduate and top lateral talent to the Firm. 

Location  & Reporting: 

  • This role is located in NY.
  • This role reports to the Global Recruiting Leader with strong accountability to the Americas Associate Recruiting Committee Leader.
  • This role is expected to build and maintain strong relationships with the Hiring Partner in each office across the Americas.
  • This role requires 20-25% travel.  

Education/Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years of recruiting experience.
  • 3+ years leading regional team.
  • Experience recruiting for a leading law firm.
  • Experience with shared service capability.
  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree or MBA preferred.
  • Professional services recruiting experience required, law firm experience preferred

 Qualifications: 

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with candidates, law schools, student organizations, professional organizations, and external recruiters.
  • Develop and implement best practices and innovative programming for a regional best in-class summer associate program.
  • Provide guidance and training on best practices in interviewing techniques and make recommendations for improvements in candidate selection.
  • Support the office hiring partners and campus recruiting teams to build relationships with law school faculty, management, and career services leads; plan campus-specific events; manage follow-up efforts; and implement new ways to identify and attract law students.
  • Collaborate with the Global Diversity team to ensure diversity is a key consideration in our hiring decisions, including cultivating and maintaining relationships with diverse student organizations, 1L LCLD Scholars program, SEO, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Lateral Partner Recruiting team to ensure a smooth hiring process and transition for lateral associates joining as part of a new lateral partner team.
  • Collaborate with the People Advisory team to ensure a seamless transition from recruiting to onboarding and orientation; participate in new associate orientation to facilitate that transition.
  • Provide recommendations and input into first-year associate onboarding (office assignments, bar preparation, etc.) and orientation.
  • Create, standardize, and deliver on agreed reporting and metrics and regularly report on successes and make recommendations on areas for improvement.
  • Maintain clear, effective lines of communication, keeping all stakeholders informed on new initiatives, developments, business issues, and other critical topics.
  • Oversee annual Americas recruiting budget process in collaboration with the Global Recruiting Committee.
  • Negotiate and manage external recruiter relationships.
  • Contribute to building and fostering a collaborative, collegial, high performing team in the Americas committed to professional excellence.
